Winter Rewilding Journey

Southern Carpathians, Romania

A Journey in the Țarcu Mountains

Step into one of Europe’s last wild frontiers during the heart of winter. Based at an eco-designed campus in Armeniș, you’ll spend five days immersed in the snow-covered landscapes of the Țarcu Mountains — exploring the ecology of winter, observing European bison, and reconnecting with ancestral rhythms of living in harmony with nature.

This journey blends ecological learning with cultural connection: guided by locals, grounded in conservation, and designed for those seeking not only wildness — but belonging in the wild.

Explore the Wilderness by snowshoeing (weather dependent) into the heart of the Carpathians with a local rewilding guide. Track bison and red deer, interpret wildlife signs, and observe how winter shapes life in the forest.

Reconnect with Nature by tuning into the language of the land: through stillness, tracking, and sensory awareness. Discover how we can be in wild places — not as intruders, but as attentive participants.

Live the Traditional Way by meeting locals who live close to the land. Share meals rooted in seasonal rhythms. Learn how nature-based tourism and traditional lifeways support conservation and community vitality.

You’ll stay in beautifully crafted tiny houses at the WeWilder campus, nestled at the edge of Armeniș. Designed for sustainability, and powered by local care, these spaces are the perfect winter nest.

Meals are seasonal, plant-forward, and lovingly prepared using local ingredients. Expect forest teas, hand-baked breads, and traditional Banat flavors — with accommodation for all dietary needs.

Minimum 8, maximum 10 participants.  This journey is for those who want more than just a trip — it’s for:

  • Nature lovers seeking meaningful winter immersion

  • Practitioners, creatives, or changemakers needing reconnection

  • People curious about rewilding, community-based conservation, and ethical nature travel

  • No technical skills or prior snow experience required — just a reasonable fitness level.

* All MOYO programs are (aside from transport to Timisoara Airport) fully inclusive, and this program also adds a 10% give back onto the price, that flows into a fund to a) support nature in the areas we operate in, and b) benefits new trainees through (partly) funded training programs.
